I am here in my office sitting with my friend Auretha discussing image and styling. She is an Image and Essence Coach and stylist dedicated to empowering people with their authentic image presentation. She tells me that when people do take such action in their life, a whole new realm of possibilities open up for them because the perception that the world has of them shifts. This shift opens new possibilities for them in business, education, relationships, entertainment…you name it. When we communicate ourselves authentically, it raises our vibration and sends a stronger signal to the world. Are You Trapped by Routine?
Here are the top ways to break out of a repressing routine and start living the exciting life you desire.
1. Do something that motivates you. Do NOT spend all your time only doing things you HAVE to do. Make time to do
those you really WANT to do. Do what you care about.
2. Exercise. Exercise is an excellent way to boost your energy levels and put you in a better mood — so you’re more
optimistic and ready to take on a new challenge.
3. Make some changes. These can be big — like a change in career — or small, like joining a yoga class. The main point is
just to do something different. Check out www.IntenseExperiences.com, founded by SixWise columnist Brian Vaszily,
for some powerful and transformative new experiences.
4. Start a new hobby. Volunteering, painting, gardening, traveling, golfing … whatever you find fun and mentally
stimulating.
5. Hang out with fun, interesting people. You know the ones. These are the people who are taking off for weekends in
the wine country or going on about their latest adventure flipping houses. Make friends with them and let their
enthusiasm rub off on you.
That’s the “vision thing.”
Japan’s Prime Minister Obuchi stated, “When Japan overcomes its current economic difficulties, it will emerge a more vibrant and flexible society. We will be in an even stronger position to support the values that we share so deeply with the United States–freedom, democracy and respect for human rights.”
Peter Drucker put it like this. “What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple. Whether you are willing to do it, that’s another matter.”
What leaders have to do today is lead people through change. It’s as simple as 1-2-3. Acknowledge, explain why, and paint a picture of the future. Leaders must create and speak compelling stories about their business.
My Oxford American Dictionary defines “breakdown” as 1a A mechanical failure. b A loss of (spiritual, mental) health. 2 A collapse (breakdown of communication). 3 A detailed analysis (of statistics, etc.)
When something is not working we can declare a breakdown. Understanding this distinction is fundamental to our ability to design our lives. Simply put, a breakdown is an unexpected “break” in the normal flow of what we were doing. More specifically, breakdowns are unexpected interruptions in the fulfillment of a commitment. Breakdowns may initially seem to be all “negative,” but they are not positive or negative in and of themselves. Breakdowns are not good or bad. They just are.
The universe doesn’t have breakdowns. People do. Different observers have different breakdowns. What’s a huge breakdown for one observer (one person) passes totally unnoticed by another
Being able to “declare” breakdowns at work or in our personal lives is the first step toward real change, learning or improvement.
Declaring a breakdown sets a new context for action - for individuals and organizations.
We address our breakdowns through conversations, and all conversations are not created equal. Some conversations absolutely move us toward taking care of the breakdown, and some do not.
Breakdowns are inevitable and are a simple fact of life. The point is therefore not to attempt to avoid breakdowns; rather, it is to gain competency and ability to deal effectively with the breakdowns which occur, as well as to gain practice declaring breakdowns proactively as a way of moving ourselves toward the results we say we want.
I consider myself an athlete, I like to compete in bicycling and running. The most common comment I hear from fellow bikers and runners is, “when will I reach my potential?”
I can only speak for myself, but that expectation placed on me as an athlete and businessman the need to be focused but it also created fear, concern and anxiety because I never wanted to consider myself as one of those athletes that didn’t reach their potential. I never would accept being a disappointment. After all what else do I have to do with my career than reach my potential. Reaching my potential became my job, a life style, my number one job in life is to reach my potential at work, sports, and at home.
Shouldn’t we all be concentrating in reaching our potential? You might not understand this but you actually have a lot of people watching you right now, your boss, employees, spouse and children are all watching you. In fact, they all have an opinion on how well you are doing so far.
How high have you set the bar in your life? Do you put pressure on yourself to reach your potential? I invite you to adopt the mind set that you expect others to maintain, reaching your potential is your job, it should drive you every morning when you rise and it should consume you all day until you fall asleep. Are you the best employee you can be? Are you the best business owner you can be? Are you the best spouse you can be? Are you the best parent you can be? You are the judge and jury, don’t just sit there….get back to work.
When I find a product that exceed my expectations price is not a problem. A couple years ago I was looking for the best Heart Rate Monitor HRM and I found the Suunto T6. At almost $500.00 I needed to ensure quality and performance. Not much information was available so I took the risk and purchase my first T6. The problems began with trying to understand and use the manual. The manual is totally useless. After fiddling with the buttons I was able to figure out how to make the watch work. Then the problem was with the software. The disk that comes with the watch is also useless. You have to go online and download the proper updated software.
I got to use the watch OK for several months until I notice that the information provided by my computer was not accurate. I tried everything and finally decided to return the watch for a partial refund.
My problem was that now I really liked the features of the product so I decided to buy a second watch. Now I knew how to operate, how to obtain the software so it was pain less to get to use the watch. I was happy for a few months and again the system failed. This time I took the product back and got a full refund. I told myself the third time is a winner so I ordered a third one.
It has been more than ten weeks since I pay in full for a new watch. After 6 weeks I started calling the store I placed the order with and they have been very helpful attempting the get the order filled. They keep getting excuses from Suunto in Norway week after week. Today I told myself enough is enough. Why am I tolerating such incompetence and such poor business practices? Nothing is worth that trouble.
Suunto once again falls in the quality of their software. And with the software being such an important part of the analytical abilities of a heart rate monitor, Suunto’s failure to create a more user-friendly and quality training manager is a serious impediment to the full training experience.
Tomorrow I will cancel my order and get my money refunded. I will never, ever will use Suunto products and I will let the world know that there is no reason to buy such products.
Be smart stay away from Suunto products.
There are hundreds books and articles out there on how to be a great leader or how to think in more innovative terms, but it’s not often that you encounter a thoughtful piece on how to delegate. Far too often, delegation is something about which no one wants to talk. It’s not a sexy topic for business magazines or for seminars, and it runs counter to the cult of individuality and independence that has been fed to us since birth. But any effective leader knows that there is no success — and, more to the point, no team — without it.
I assert that the biggest barrier in delegation for executives is the “ego factor” they think that if they delegate others will get the power. They think that in order to delegate they will have to be in open communication about many issues that have been kept hidden or avoided discussion. They avoid delegation in order to “look busy” (which makes them unavailable) and people will not bother them.
Delegation is a quality that requires courage to act, to execute and most important to trust others as you trust yourself.
Attitude is “the critical” factor in leadership and many leaders have never been taught the right attitude of leadership.
Few leaders understand that caring for the people they lead is the most important quality to convey. Let’s be honest, who taught you how to lead? Leadership isn’t offered at most colleges as a major or even in high school as a course although it should be. Most of your leadership training good or bad has been a product of the leadership you have experienced.
The reality is this, all of us are leaders everywhere we spend time.
We are leaders at work, home, at church or any where we have the opportunity to influence people. The one attitude that parallels all great leaders is a condition of the heart. They actually care about the people that they lead, it sounds very simple but it is really hard to find in a leader. How many leaders have you experienced that actually cared about you? If you are a leader right now, do you actually care for the people you lead? If you do it can make all the difference in the world in your leadership, if you don’t it can make all the difference in the world. Being a caring leader is leadership’s best kept secret.
Attitude separates good individuals from great individuals, average producers from great producers, good companies from great companies, good families from great families.
Our success in life is based on our ATTITUDE!!!
How much more valuable is a person with a great attitude? Companies are always looking for the right people with the right attitude. These kinds of people are considered very valuable and permanent fixtures of any organization. Does your organization see you this way? A person with a bad attitude is very replaceable and organizations are just looking for a good opportunity to do just that.
How much more valuable would you be if your organization or people in general saw you as a person with a great attitude. An attitude is completely based on how we think. By definition attitude is defined by how we respond, react and perceive situations and circumstances. In other words, if your current attitude is not the right one, you need to be reprogrammed or run the risk of being never reaching your professional potential?
I have come to the realization that everything that happens to me will bring me value in the long run. Do you believe that everything that comes your way will benefit you in the long run? That belief system is the key to your attitude. If you are not convinced of this fact, your attitude will always be in question and so will their value. If you struggle with your attitude how would it change if you modified your belief system?
Everything that you experience in your lifetime whether good or bad will some how some way be good for you in the long run. So why not have a great attitude when these situations arise. I encourage you for the next 90 days condition your mind to always respond correctly to anything that comes your way, not matter what. Find the silver lining in everything and before you know it, your attitude will improve and so will your paycheck.
